I love this most because The metal buckle and fittings were similar to the M1916 General Officer’s Model except it came in gold metal for the Army and in silver metal for the Air Force..

This pistol really is a testament to the genius of John Moses Browning. The 1911 is not perfect; and there are pistols around today that are arguably better, more practical guns for military, law enforcement, or civilian use. But the fact is, that the 1911 is at least competitive with more modern pistols. It’s single action mechanism, with a mechanical safety demands a little more expertise from the shooter, but it rewards that expertise with superb ergonomics and a first rate trigger. And remember, this is a first generation auto pistol. ALL of its contemporaries are museum pieces now. No one today seriously considers a Luger or a broomhandle Mauser or a Roth-Steyr as a carry gun, but lots of people still have 1911s in their holsters, and for good reason. The 1911 may no longer be the very best, but unlike all the other first generation auto pistols, it can still hold its own with modern designs
